The player receives a quest from an Owl once they have a strong Pet. The sender of the quest is the Little Black Cat, a cat that can speak to the player, who asked the Owl to send for help because it wishes to find its old friend. The only problem is that the Little Black Cat does not feel confident entering the Human city of Emain Macha alone, so it wants a Pet-friendly guide.
Almost instantly (and without waiting to hear a response from the player) the Little Black Cat smells its old friend and rushes into Emain Macha. Instead of finding its friend, it finds Starlet. As it turns out, the Little Black Cat became fast friends with Starlet's Border Collie after it was bullied by other animals. Starlet regrets to inform the Little Black Cat that her former companion died saving her life, but recommends the Little Black Cat seek out Tin in order to become strong enough to protect others itself.
The player follows the Little Black Cat to the edge of Tir Chonaill to the closed off entrance of the Forest of Souls. Tin initially isn't sure what to do, because most of his advice only concerns Pets that have masters, but eventually decides to go over the basics anyways. He explains things to the Little Black Cat, such as the fact that Pets are capable of Rebirth despite not being Milletians. Inspired by everything, the Little Black Cat decides to go on an adventure to find its own friend. The Little Black Cat stops to thank the player with an old, black Braid and then heads out.
Later, the player can spot the Little Black Cat in Mag Mell. It will only nod and mew at the player, however, as it is busy with its new friend.
