- Giant Marks of the Maiz Prairie -
The Mystery of the Maiz line

By Bedao

During last Imbolic, Emain Macha's historian, Kentiguirna, was traveling through Rano, the southwestern region of Iria, when she came across a giant mark of a mysterious flower that seemed to have been engraved on the prairie ground.

Strangely enough, she had never seen the mark there prior to that day, even just the day before, when she had passed through the same place.

Not only was it strange that the size of the mark was so large that you could not see it in a single view, but what made it even more suspicious was that such a man-made engraving had been carved into the ground at a place where hardly anyone ever passed by.

Kentiguirna describes the moment she discovered the mark as follows:

"It just happened to be the tail end of Imbolic, and we were very close to spring after a long, long winter. New life was breeding underground, preparing to welcome a new season of spring. Interestingly enough, the engraving on the ground was in the shape of a flower bud. A tightly closed flower bud, actually. It's symbolic of a new life that is about to bud, but not quite yet."

After her first discovery in the Maiz Prairie, Kentiguirna moved onto researching various marks that were discovered all throughout Iria. From her research, she was able to locate other marks in the shape of a human, snake, sheep, tree, sun, bird, etc..

"The one thing that is for certain is that the marks were engraved into the land with a very specific motive. So far, I have not been able to determine what one's motivation could have been for engraving such marks all over Iria, but I do suspect that there is some sort of a pattern between the marks and the shapes that they symbolize," says Kentiguirna.

Most recently, she has been working on the relationship between the 7 marks that were discovered in Rano and the 7 musical pitches in an octave. She is also enlisting the help of explorers to help solve the riddle that concerns the marks all over Iria. She is constantly soliciting for help.

"Iria is an incredibly large place, way beyond our imagination. We've so far discovered 7 marks, but there may be more that we have yet to discover."
