Training Tips

Training Tips

Does anyone have any tips on what to cook or eat, using readily available ingredients/food (sold by NPCs, gatherable, and whatnot) or doesn't require too much effort to get?

Since we are now supporting the creation of user made guides, if the person who is answering would like to, they can make a guide as a subpage of their user page and add it to the User Guides category.

I'd like a ===Tips=== on this page, too...

I go by what costs least and is considerably easier to make. Food requiring Bottled Water is usually good, mainly because in Dunby there's a well right next to the cooking oven.

Grilled Shellfish is pretty easy for Baking requirements.

Simmered Beans, if you have a Dull Weeding Hoe or Steamed Potatoes for Simmering.

Fry Batter is the one for Kneading I use mainly because Deep Fry Batter costs 10g and I just have to collect eggs and stand near a well for that. Keep the Fry Batter, because you're going to need it for Deep Frying.

Basil Tea for Boiling.

Somen Noodles for Noodle making. The only thing that takes actual effort to get is the Wheat Flour.

Fried Chicken Wing for Deep frying, which is why you need to keep the Fry Batter you make using Kneading.

Fried Button Mushrooms, if you want to gather mushrooms, or Pasta Ingredients, you can buy all the necessities from NPCs so yeah, for Stir Frying.

Pasta Making sadly has no easy way. You're forced to gather wheat. Though the tip I do give is to make a certain number of Pasta Dough, then use the Pasta Dough to make Long Pasta.

Grape Jam is considerably easy for Jam Making. But Grape prices annoy me slightly. Chocolate is another option. Juniper Jelly is also fairly easy.

Pie Making also requires more effort, because of Flour. But making Tart Crusts is easier than Pan Pie Crust.

Steaming is still something I haven't thought of yet. I don't even have high rank cooking, just preparing myself to train the skill lol.

Though, this is the list of things to make if Ingredient Gathering can't get me enough ingredients.

Edit: I should make that user-page.

It would also be nice to do so for Tasting.

Personally, I find it best, maybe because I'm just lazy, to avoid doing dishes that require Water. Here is my priority:

  • The dish with Flour is worse than the dish with Water. The dish with water is worse than the dish without water. (Some ranks this is a must, like pasta, noodles, pie.)
  • Assuming the two previous points are precedent, the dish with two ingredients is better than the dish with three ingredients.
  • The cheaper dish is better than the expensive dish.

This being said, personally, a 2 ingredient dish that costs 150g to make is better than a 3 ingredient dish that takes 75g to make because it requires less effort. MUST AVOID EFFORT. And a 3 ingredient dish that costs 5,000g is better than a two ingredient dish that involves Flour and Water. Flour must be avoided at all costs if possible. It requires 10 wheat or barely, they do not stack very high. It takes a while to get even with r1 harvesting. And the success rate of milling is way too low. In addition, flour does not stack.

Not really a guide of what to make and what rank but this is a miniguide as to what I usually looked at when ranking cooking and tasting.

You can't really avoid making flour. Pie Making, Pasta Making and Noodle Making all require flour making. Unless you want to buy it off players or get a flour making slave. But I'm not made of money, yo!

Some three ingredient dishes can be easier, it depends on the percentage of each ingredient. Steamed Potato is stupid.

Nise Panda (talk)06:12, 9 May 2014

Yea, I just avoid flour when I can but there are ranks where it is mandatory. And if you're really too lazy, you can be semi-hypocritical and spam kitchen dungeon for flour instead of gathering/producing if that is less monotonous to you.

Also something I forgot to mention, if you have a cooking experience reforged tool, equip it when reading the book for extra experience.

Tasting, you can just NOM NOM NOM carrots and mix Bread Crumbs.
