First Thoughts

I personally like this better than the current one! Do you think we could use this instead? - User: MasterRyan

Who doesn't like this better? I still think the owner is working on it though. --Kevin 01:19, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
in some ways it's prettier, in others, this will be an utter nightmare to code. o.o -- Ladywinter 11:32, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
How so? :O! i can help :3 --Kevin 19:23, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Ignore that statement, it was before I learned DeadEiry format XD -- Ladywinter 01:36, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Yep, I'm still worknig on this. As for the code, it's going to come down a LOT once I get access to the css. As for the layout...it's heavilly up to debate at the moment. A lot of people have said they hate it and a lot have said they love it... so in the end, once I've finished working on it we will probably have a vote on changes/complete overhaul. Hotarugirl - Tarlach 18:00, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

I can help you with CSS access if you'd like --Kevin 18:49, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, nice. I wonder tho that the blue might be a bit harsh on the eyes. Perhaps somewhat darker blue for more contrast? Also, is there any way to make smaller the section of blue under the table text? (ie. Description) -- Ladywinter 05:21, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I took the blue and the green from the item pages, to try and maintain a constant color scheme across the site. I'd be hesitant to change it here without changing it everywhere.
Ah ok. No way to make it paler? o.o -- Ladywinter 10:03, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by "the section of blue under the table text" Hotarugirl 11:14, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
like the area of blue around "Agression" -- Ladywinter 10:03, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

right and left

hey, I have been trying to get Uladh on the left of Field locations, and Iria on the right, but no success, does anyone know how? - User: MasterRyan March 17, 2009, 12: 46 EST

It is possible, but I don't think listing them seperate makes much sense since the number of monsters that appear in both Iria and Ulaid is minimal...I can't actually think of any at all off the top of my head.
It isnt too hard. use <span> --Kevin (•Talk•) 05:22, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Browser incompatibility

I got the layout looking okay finally...but when I went to check it in IE, it's a total mess, not just a little mess, a total unholy explosion of the worst coding Microsoft could throw together. At this point it's far to difficult for me to get the same layout across Opera, IE, and the Gecko browsers. I'm going to think about it and keep poking around over the next few days, but I'm thinking of scrapping the more graphical layout at the moment in favor of the bland (yet highly compatible) table based one. (Sigh)...I don't know. Thoughts? Suggestions? Critisisms??? Hotarugirl 09:02, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Some monsters have the same name and look different.

Yes, this is true, but these different monsters usually have different stats too, and therefore would have a different data template, and in order to have a different template, a different name. An example is the Metal Skeleton and Metal Skeleton (Armored). There is always a unique identifier added to the name to make it differentiable. The reason to keep the Image name the same as the template is to prevent the crap image uploads with names like Image:Me_<player>_Standing_Next_To_Brown_Mimic_While_Holding_Icecream_Sandwhich_At_Midnight.png >_<

Works fine

I like the layout and yes, it does sometimes change, but it's minor (small spacing) and only with ie 7/8 lol.--Hengsheng120 10:13, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

sugestion

I cant follow this thing AT ALL! yes it looks nice, but there needs to be a thingy we can use to fill in the info (like on a character template or the other monster template) to follow. IM LOST ON HOW TO USE THIS!!! to much code and i dont know how it was written and what needs to be changed where. slayer1o1 01:20, 8 April 2009 (UTC) it looks a little nicer than the other but is harder to fill the stuff in.

Template:DataMonster GO THERE! --Kevin (•Talk•) 02:34, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
wow that does make it so much easier. thanks. isnt it almost the exact same as the origional? slayer1o1 23:48, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Old and New

how's this? I took some elements of Hotaru's coding and melded it with the current monster table-- Ladywinter 00:08, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

looks.... really long.... i like the original second better. slayer1o1 01:26, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

well it's long partly because of the way the equipment enchants are formatted, they can be changed to something like Soldier Studded Bracelts. Personally, I'd prefer long tables over wide tables...I kinda find the blue tables unusable. =\ -- Ladywinter 01:30, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

{{DataMonsterSmall Golem|format=StyleMonsterTest}}

This is much better than whats on the golem page at the moment. The current one is too wide for a square screen (which I use) and doesn't really feel like a wiki entry. Also this method doesn't require you to hover over each icon to find out what it is, making it easier to tell at a glance. One thing though, we might want to add an "edit here" tag like the food templates have, to make it easier on new contributers --Jacobpaige 03:33, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

mm! good idea, I'll look into the formatting of one. -- Ladywinter 03:43, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

no place for ranks

I noticed this template on the golem page shortly after i began listing the ranks of skills in the skill lists. this new template has no place to put the ranks of skills that wouldn't look really awkward...--Sozen Cratos Focker 06:10, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

I'll modify input for ranks soon --Kevin (‧Talk‧) 06:13, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

skill icon changes

i think it would be more clear if we just used the actual icons for the skills instead of modifying them to change background color. it's confusing and misleading.--Sozen Cratos Focker 06:10, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

They started it. I'm just finishing their work. --Kevin (‧Talk‧) 06:13, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
well i think we should switch ti the actual icons for those skills. except the ones for passive defenses, adding lvl numbers to the pictures was a good idea. maybe there should be something like that for other skills that have somewhat different effects based on rank(like how smash gets splash after rank 5 and windmill gets range boosts at 5 and 1)--Sozen Cratos Focker 01:31, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

If you use real skill icons and there in weired color order, that would be extreamly messy and hard to look at, while if you color them specificaly and put them in order and create skill icons that don't exist it would make it alot easier. Like ex.File:IceHold.png Ice hold skill or mirror witch, if u just put somethen like icespear or alchemy ice that would make it seem like it doesnt know that skill cause most people won't bother to click it, and you got to agree with me that I did a pretty good job on this skill icon, I mean just look at it :D ~ Hikarixz

Others are File:Fastregeneration.png Fast Regeneration, File:Bite Attack.png Bite Attack, File:Lazer.png Glas Laser, Flight.png Flight, File:Instinctive Reaction.gif Instinctive Reaction, File:NightChange.png Night Change, File:Summon.png Summon, Petrification.gif Petrification, File:HPdrain.png HP drain ~ Hikarixz

I do like your icons, especially flight. ---Angevon 02:53, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
i was only talking about the skills that actualy do have their own icons. the skills with their own icons should be left as the actual icons that they are in game. for the skills that don't have an icon, i like the idea of makeing one. but changing the real ones would just make it confusoing. and redoing all of them to make them have the same color backgrounds makes them harder to distinguish from other skills that are not even in the same category(when you make all mele, life, and magic skills all have black backgrounds instead of leaving them the way they are, it makes the skills thing more boring, and harder to understand)--Sozen Cratos Focker 03:41, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
on the icons you made for monster-only skills, i suggest making the background the same color(black works) for all of them to avoid confusion with skills that players can get.--Sozen Cratos Focker 07:04, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Skill Ranks

How shall I place skill ranks? --Kevin (‧Talk‧) 06:51, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

There are 2 choices:
Hover icon tooltip, where it will say [Skillname] [Skillrank], but the image will lead the the picture link.
Give every image a little number/letter indicating skill rank. Will take a lot of coding and picture adding (Not recommended.)
More choices as I think of them.
i don't like the second idea.--Sozen Cratos Focker 01:49, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
the hover icon tooltip one is good.--Sozen Cratos Focker 06:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I like the hoverover icon too, but it makes the icon redirect to the actual image. --Kevin Talk«) 06:43, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
would ignore wiki formating help? (nevertried it so i have no idea what i'm talking about)--Sozen Cratos Focker 22:18, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Would it be possible to put a redirect inside the page for the picture? i'm pretty sure the answer is no, but it was worth a shot.--Sozen Cratos Focker 22:52, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

The passive defence should have a number rank 1-3 since its going to be hard to tell what you can can't kb with magic or range ~Hikarixz

i say we leave the system of having the "Lv#" in the skill icon for fast and easy identification of how hard it is to knock back, and give the specific rank, in whatever way we decide to do it for the other skills, for those who want to know exactly how much their damage will be reduced.--Sozen Cratos Focker 17:50, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

I say we just show the passive ranks, such as mana relfector or heavy stander. the actual rank of combat skills is hard to tell and doesnt do much good. just the knowledge of the skill should be good. slayer1o1 22:59, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

it's not hard to tell. race.xml has all of a monster's skill's ranks listed.--Sozen Cratos Focker 06:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
ok then, does the actual rank really matter tho? slayer1o1 20:55, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
That's like asking 'Are rank 1 and rank F skills the same?' YES IT MATTERS! >:o --Kevin Talk«) 20:58, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Width

Since when did this table get so...wide? --Kevin (‧Talk‧) 18:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Since some are complaining that the table is too wide, I'm sure it would be no problem to move the side modules to the bottom (or stacked and parallel to the notes and advice) and make them side by side like the defensive/offensive ones, can anyone do it?--Hengsheng120 19:04, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

The table isn't bad in width, its bad in hight, cheak the Brown and Red Bear, the left side got messed up in hight becuase there was to much on the right side. ~ Hikarixz

Lol what will happen when it's on the Dragon page?--Hengsheng120 19:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Yea the template needs to do somethen about that ...dragon ~ Hikarixz

How about making a box on the template that hides the long list?--Hengsheng120 00:54, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Edit Button

For some reason the "Edit" button on pages with this template go straight to edit the template directly. We may want to change that in the future, so that users accidentally clicking it won't ruin it. ---Angevon 04:21, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Usage

Where's the usage explanation thing for this template, so that I can start helping? ---Angevon 16:07, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Template:DataMonster --Kevin Talk«) 22:39, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Idea..?

Yea I tend to have a lot of them, but for that little fomor scroll icon, do you think, once all the monster tables have been "converted" to this format, change it to the corresponding fomor scroll of that monster? (And I have a feeling not all monsters drop a fomor scroll, they can stay black :D?)

and there can be a hover icon tooltip thing to list the reward for that fomor scroll quest.--Sozen Cratos Focker 22:16, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
:o...Sounds really hard though T.T""--♫ѕτя♪ (I can't find an "a" D:) 23:08, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Eh, image?

How do you change the image of a monster thing in this format..? Particularly the meek bat.. The image hurts my eyes, and its not really like I totally understand the template.. though I've been trying hard to. ._.--♫ѕτя♪ (I can't find an "a" D:) 23:09, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

You'll need a larger image for Meek Bat. The image is automatically changed to size of 300width. --Kevin Talk«) 23:24, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
I can sorta tell, but how do I change the image? I can't find the spot in the template thing for where the image goes =.=""--♫ѕτя♪ (I can't find an "a" D:) 23:35, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Oooohh. The image will be File:Monster name here.jpg --Kevin Talk«) 23:36, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Poll

crit and atk speed

there should be spots in these charts for monsters crit rate and attack speed. attack speed sometimes has an effect on weather a certain tactic will work or not and on how likely you are to hit the monster without getting hit if you both use normal attack at the same time.--Sozen Cratos Focker 04:25, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

and where do you get the data for crit rate?--Hengsheng120 00:44, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
test it in game. see how often it crits against a certain amount of protection. this is something that'l probably take forever, and that box would be left empty on most monsters for a long time, but i think it's important to have that information in charts of a monsters stats.--Sozen Cratos Focker 01:48, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

only 2 options for agro

i just noticed this chart can only say single or multi agro, but most monsters have a maximum number that can aggro at the same time. --Sozen Cratos Focker 01:15, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

added options for double agro, tripple agro, and quad agro. i havent noticed anny monsters haveing tripple or quad agro, but added options for those ammyway because there might be some that we've just not payed attention to, since most people just assumed that all monsters are iether single or multi. for annything above 4, i think it's fine to just leave it as multi.
it's going to be a pain to look through every monster page's history to find wich ones were labeled as double before this template was implemented...--Sozen Cratos Focker 06:55, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

little formatting suggestion

I was wondering if we could move the offensive box and cut the the aggression and skills box in half so the location and loot box could be moved over and it all could fit on one screen. i have no clue how hard of if this would be possible i was just thinking aloud... slayer1o1 00:01, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Fury of Light for Teleportation

If we use that icon for teleport when G9 comes out and won't it be confusing dopplegangers can use fury?--Hengsheng120 02:10, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

yes, it will be confusing.--Sozen Cratos Focker 18:21, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

unused skills suggestion

we should have a hideable box in the skills box that shows all of the skills that the monster has but does not use(so we know what it can do after we "tame" it)--Sozen Cratos Focker 02:13, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

yes/no aggro box

it's pointless to have a box for weather or not the monster aggros, when theres a box for how many will aggro. we should just remove that box and add a none option to the other box. and then use that space for how many will notice the player while the maximum number has aggroed.--Sozen Cratos Focker 04:38, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Screwed Header

I screwed it up? You were the one that made every monster a feild boss.0 ,0` I sugest making it "{{#if: {{{FieldBoss|n}}}|y|[[File:Fomor Scroll.png|20px|This monster is a Field Boss. For more go to Category:Feild Bosses]]|}}&" or soemthing like that. -- User Image- Ember Incubus.pngկրակEmber Incubus (խոսելTalk | օգնությունContributes)

Shadow Monsters

Can someone add "{{#if: {{{Shadow|}}}|[[[[File:Mark of the Fomors.png|20px|This monster is a Shadow Mission Monster whose stats depend on your total level.]]|}}"? - Random

I don't think so. Shadow Monsters not only different stat. For example, Crag Cow(Beginner) has not Instinctive Reaction skill. but Crag Cow(Hard) has Instinctive Reaction skill. --Juff 12:25, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Wyverns

We'll need to add WyvernFireBreath, WyvernIceBreath, WyvernLightningBreath skills and icons soon for G8. ---Angevon 18:44, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

And Claimh Solas skills, and Neid skills... who's in charge of skill icons now? ------ Angevon (Talk) 00:15, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Some other bosses need skill icons added too...Krumena's Meteor and Dragon Roar skills have icons already (according to the description pages for those skills) but icons weren't actually added to the template. Giant Lion needs an icon made for its roar skill as well, and probably some others I forget right now. Qaccy 21:37, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

highrisk suggestion

since this is the most evident template that takes toll on server, i suggest we add the Template:highrisk template. maybe we can be a little loose on the protection? If not, i still think this should be a reminder to anyone does edit the template. Example use and all the code is here: User:Hengsheng120/Template:Example.--Hengsheng120(talkcontribs) 03:10, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I second this notion. - A Random User 03:16, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Late to the party... I like the template warning, but until an upper-level admin says otherwise (e.g. IJ, Cyrus) (or until it magically gets unprotected like some other pages did somehow), this template is going to stay protected. Even a small edit to Template:FutureContent nearly killed the wiki's swap. The template -may- be useful on some enchants-related templates, though, and the crafting templates and clothes/armor upgrade sequences. --- Angevon (Talk) 00:26, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Image Ext.

Can someone make it {{{ext|jpg}}} instead of just jpg? - A Random User 02:59, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Taming bonus

I have begun adding the taming bonuses to animals. Being this template is protected, I have been adding an additional template to each animal i get the bonus for.

It would save a lot of trouble if it was added to the template, so I would only have to change the monster data.

The data tag I'm using is Tamingbonus. You can find an example here.

The template I'm currently using is a rough one. I was considering seperating it into the various stats, and have several entries to be added to each monster that can be tamed. For the time being it's a list, as it appears in the game.

--Izme1000 07:44, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Can't we just make a note of the taming bonus in the "Notes" section? Making the template even bigger is kinda... well... not recommended. --- Angevon (Talk) 14:10, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
