A few suggestions to the image policy

A few suggestions to the image policy

I really hope I'm not overstepping a line by making suggestions of this nature, but here goes.

I think it'd be a bit more helpful to tweak this part of the policy: "Avoid a purely monochromatic, full-white, full-black, and/or white/black color scheme. With these color sets, it is difficult to distinguish between the dye-able parts and the gears' details are usually lost. Even if only one part of the item is dyed black or white, we don't want it."

To something more along the lines of: "Do not use a black or white color scheme. Even if only one part of the item is dyed black or white, we don't want it. With these color sets, it is difficult to distinguish between the dye-able parts and the gears' details are usually lost. Also be aware if you use colors that are light or dark enough to obscure details they may be replaced.

I've seen in a few past instances (one today too) where the "avoid" phrase is taken out of context to mean it'll still be accepted, when black or white images just don't fly on the wiki anymore and wind up being replaced or under the need picture category.

As to the second phrase I added about light/dark colors some pieces of equipment have fine details that will vanish in light or dark colors where it wouldn't obscure details on a different set. for example the Short Swordsmanship School Uniform (F) the collar has a very fine swirly design on it, but on -most- pale colors they'll disappear in most angles. As for the shortening it up aspect, I feel it'd help for those who tend to skim policies. It's more to the point and reads easier.

Another suggestion would be a rule to specify there must be a uniform look to images uploaded. I've noticed on a few equipment pages (clothing and armor) people will cut off the legs, head, or just part of the character. While I know we're not here to show off characters, it doesn't look professional that 95% of the equipment pages have the full character displayed while the other 5% have cropped characters. So this suggestion is more for the sake of professional consistency.

The last suggestion is for weapons, is that they should be zoomed in as close as the default zoom allows (in other words don't mod for super zooms), angled to best show the full look of the weapon, and cropped to best display the weapon in its preview. For example the Crystal Lightning Wand images make it hard to see the wand it's self as it blends to the background on some parts and is zoomed out too far and angled badly.

I made some changes to the policy, using some of your ideas. I didn't add anything about cropped characters because sometimes people do that to zoom in better in-game or to make the preview on the wiki look better.

Thanks for the suggestions :)
