We have one running right now but the max number of people we've gotten into it at once was 10/16. Not sure how much of a total bonus it can give but everyone on the party, regardless of unit, gets the production bonus.

Someone with many life skill friends should probably test this in detail because like you said, unit does not matter for the boost. Being on a mount will (probably) block a person from contributing, but i have experienced some very odd results with very large weaving squads. People joining and the success rate falls, or leaving and the success rate rises. This occurred past 10 members but it might be possible that there is a maximum allowable boost, only observable with low success rate items.
