Description

The Advancement Arena is located in northern Emain Macha. Players who have mastered Defense, Smash, Counter, Windmill, Magnum Shot, Combat Mastery, Ranged Attack, Icebolt, Firebolt, Lightning Bolt, Tailoring, or Blacksmithing can take a difficult test to qualify for an upper title ranks that states that you are skilled enough to pass a test on a certain level. The tests only allow you use the skill that you are ranking to clear rooms. The Dan ranks require AP and do not give any more bonus stats. You also can get titles from the Dan ranks.

Also, depending on the title you obtain, you can get discounts for weapon/clothing/armor repair fee, also having access to secret Part-time Jobs, and when completing the secret Part-time Job, you are able to get an advanced weapon from the NPC you have worked for.

Details

  • The skill you are trying to advance must be Rank 1 in order to take the Advancement Test. You do not need to master the skill to take the test.
  • When the Advancement Arena is open, you can talk to the NPC inside to apply for the test for the skill you want to advance.

Applying for an Advancement Exam

  • The Advancement Arena is located north of Emain Macha.
  • Exam is only available every 5 real life days for 4 real life hours on channel 4 (In North America).
    • Ex. July 5th, July 10th, July 15, July 20th, July 25, etc.
  • To take an Advancement Exam, there needs to be at least 3 players doing the same exam and the same Dan level.
    • The maximum amount of people that are able to apply for the exam is 6.
  • Players pass the exam after getting the qualifying points needed to pass.
  • If none of the players are to be able to get the minimum point needed, none of the players will pass the exam.
  • The number of players that pass depend on how many players are taking the test.

  • The maximum time for applying to an Advancement Exam is 10 minutes, if there happens to be 20 applicants, there will be 3 teams of 6 players to take the exam, and the most last 2 to apply will be in the waiting list until the 3 player requirement is filled.
  • You can only take 1 exam per Skill type.

However, you can take a Life Skill Exam, a Magic Skill Exam and a Combat Skills exam on the same day.

Taking the Advancement Exam

  • When taking an Advancement Exam, all of your equipments, Titles, Potion Poisoning, and Bonuses from Foods will be unavailable during the Exam. Also, Transformation Skills such as Paladin, Dark Knight, or Falcon/Savage Beast skills will be unavailable to use. Escape Bombs are also unavailable.

After applying and the Application time is over, you will be transferred into the Examination room.

  • If the Exam requires you to fight monsters, there will be a standby time upon entering the Exam room.
    • Upon entering the Exam room your skill bar will be blank, during this time you should set your skills on your skill bar.
  • The player with the most points gets qualified first, so it is recommended that you get many points as fast as you can.
  • All Skill proficiency and titles will be reset when you are out of the examination room.
  • If you die while doing a Combat or Magic Skill Advancement Exam, the points you have obtained will be deducted depending on your Dan Level and the points you have obtained so far. You will be revived with Full Recovery 10 Seconds after your death.

Advancement Exam

  • When doing either Combat or Magic related skill Exam, you will see many different types of monsters spawn in order, even bosses. The monsters all differ depending on the Skill and Dan Level.
    • At the higher Dan Levels, there will be self-destructing monsters, Long Range type monsters, and monsters that use a special AI.
  • Monsters drop Potions and items needed for the exam.
  • Some monsters spawn when a specific requirement is met.
  • When all players are unable to move, a Giant Worm will spawn. If every monster in the examination room is killed, A Bug Bear will appear. When you use the Skill needed to be used for advancement to defeat the following monsters mentioned, you will get an extra 1000 points.
    • It is recommended that you team up with other players to bring these monsters down.
  • Every skills has a specific number of points needed to qualify.

  • When doing the Combat Mastery Advancement Exam, normal attacks and any melee attacks give points, damage blocked using Defense also becomes your Score points
    • Ex. Using Smash and hitting 5000 on an enemy will count as 5000 points.
  • When doing Ranged Attack Advancement Exam only damage hit by using a normal range attack will count as score points. Magnum Shot, Arrow Revolver, Mirage Missile will not count as score points.

  • Because when Lightning Bolt can hit multiple enemies upon casting 5 bolts the damage hit on all the enemies becomes added to your score points.
    • Ex. if you were to hit 5 enemies with 500 damage each, then you gain 2500 Points.

  • When you go into the Tailoring or Blacksmith Advancement Exam room, there will be an Examining NPC in the middle of the room.

The Examiner will have one of the items besides the Advancement Suit on its Body, Hand, and Foot. Your task is to make the same item that it is wearing. You can only know what it is by seeing the Examiner NPC.

  • The needed materials to make the equipment to be made can be obtained by pressing [Trade] with the NPC. The Gold needed to buy the materials will be given to you at the starting of the exam. However, the amount of gold is limited and you will not be able to obtain more gold than what you are already given, so beware that you do not buy any unnecessary materials.
    • you can make multiple items of the same equipment and choose the one with the best quality to be given for examining.
  • In the Advancement Exam, you will be graded on the Quality and time it took you to make the item.
  • Talk to the Examiner NPC to hand in the equipment for examination. If you give the Examiner NPC a total different item from what you were required to make, the Examiner will not take the item.

Titles

A Dan title is a prefix that may be amended to a corresponding Master Title. It is possible to obtain a Dan title before the corresponding Master Title, but it may not be worn without wearing the Master Title. Prefix Titles are chosen from a secondary Title list in the Title selection menu.

Discounts and Secret Shops

  • When you wear the Dan title, depending on the title you wear, special NPCs will give you a 10% discount on repairs.
    • The Fierce Defense Master = Osla of Emain Macha
    • The Wise Icebolt Master = Lassar of Tir Chonaill
    • The Meticulous Tailoring Master = Ailionoa of Emain Macha
    • The Meticulous Blacksmith Master = Edern of Bangor
      • There are more NPCs that will give you discounts in repairs when you wear Dan titles, note that depending on which master titles you use the NPC that will give you discount differs.

Secret Part-time Job

  • If you talk to a NPC using a 3rd Dan Title with a Master title(Ex. The rumored Tailoring Master) using the "Part-time Job" keyword, you can get a secret Part-time Job.
  • After completing the part-time job not only you will get the rewards from it, you can also buy advanced weapons from the NPC. After you finish the part-time job, if you press Trade with the NPC, you will be able to see a tab that wasn't there before, Advanced Weapons tab.
    • Note that it will only open once, so if you close the window because you forgot your money, you need to do the Part-time Job again.
  • The items sold in Advanced Weapons sometimes come with enchants such as Rage and Raven but are usually more expensive.
