taking damage

does damage include the self-inflicted damage via windmill? -- ladywinter ~{talk | contribs}~ 01:51, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

I've never actualy windmilled with the skill in use. But I don't believe it does, I can check some time. Usualy I'm using it to juggernaut so I tend to use other skills. Tellos 02:10, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Attack recklessly without paying attention to anything else. At least, what I'm guessing he means. BladeBlade 02:53, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
It gives you advanced heavy stander and stun immunity with lv3 of all passive defences, and if you have good armor the skill will lose virtualy no exp (things which hit less than 1 remove 0.000 exp I believe. It acted like nothing happened so I didn't check to see how much exp I lost but I don't think it lost any, or it lost almost none >.01.), so you can just attack things recklessly. Tellos 02:59, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Just checked, windmill won't cause any exp loss. Tellos 03:04, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Damage Tolerance

Say for Rank 1, does the skill cancel after having reduced 1,000 damage, or having received 1,000 damage? -- Tylian (TALK · CONTRIB) 13:45, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

From using the skill I've determined that upon breaking the damage tollerance limit, you will take the remainder of the damage normaly and you will be stunned. Anything under the damage tollerange limit will have no effect on your character. Exp loss is determined by Exp loss= Damage/Tollerance * 6.5 but if it would be greater than 6.5, the value of 6.5 is used. Damage is the damage you'd take AFTER your defence and protection, but it doesn't seem to count mana shield. I guess you could say the damage tollerance limit is your extra defence and the damage reduction ratio is your extra protection. I'm certain that 6.5 is the max value because a critical windmill from ifrit to a character with 1 defence and 2 protection removed 6.497 exp at r1 Eclipse of wings and returned damage to the character about half its HP (I believe it was around 30). The skill is only forcibly canceled if it reaches 0 exp in its rank. The skill only ranks down if you activate it at 0 exp. Tellos 14:00, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

is there a time limit? --Sreth 02:56, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

3.35 efficiency mana shield rank 1

18.88 efficiency r1 wings of eclipse.

Formula for skill exp loss is Damage taken after all calculation / 1000 * 6.5.

1,000 damage magnum shot added into this.

Def: 1,000 - 37 = 963

Prot: 59% of 963= 568.17

PD: 80% of 568.17= 454.536

MS: 454.536 / 3.35 = 135.68

Eclipse of wings: 135.68 / 18.88 = 7.186

This would only take .04 skill exp to defend.

and what about a 300 damage archery shot?

Def: 300 - 37 = 263

Prot: 59% of 263 = 155.17

PD: 80% of 155.17 = 124.136

MS: 124.136 / 3.35 = 37.06

Eclipse of wings: 37.06 / 18.88 = 1.963

This would only take .01 skill exp to defend

200 damage archery?

Def: 200 - 37 = 163

Prot: 59% of 163 = 96.17

PD: 80% of 96.17 = 76.936

MS: 76.936 / 3.35 = 22.96

Eclipse of wings: 22.96 / 18.88 = 1.216

This would only take .0079 skil exp to defend

I'm pretty sure mana shield doesn't do anything to eclipse of wings. Tellos 16:33, 11 November 2010 (PST)

EXP loss either incorrect or misleading

Hey guys! I just got Wings of Eclipse, so I decided to give it a fair test before preferring my (rank 1) neamhain skills.

If I'm reading the explanation properly, no EXP is lost if Defense and Protection reduce the damage to 1. Furthermore, the damage is reduced by the efficiency ratio before Defense/Protection is applied. In other words, according to this, any base damage done that is less than Defense * Efficiency Ratio should be completely negated.

However, that is definitely not the case.

Thus far, I tested my rank F WoE against the Black-tailed Mongoose, whose damage range is 40~50. I've confirmed these numbers by taking between 6~12 damage as paladin with 33 defense and 7 protection. According to the formula mentioned above, I should easily be able to take over 100 damage without losing EXP. Instead, each hit took around 0.36 EXP away.

Presently, I don't have enough EXP to test the real formula, but the formula mentioned above is wrong. The numbers in the table are not incorrect, but the formula for EXP loss is.

Thoughts?

Doomsday31415 (talk)11:13, 5 April 2013

This isn't something you can easily find in the game's code, nor is it easy to test. I really blame Nexon for not clarifying it.

Infodude575 (talk)18:19, 5 April 2013

EXP is kinda proportional to damage no?

S•A•R•I•A (talk)18:32, 5 April 2013

All we know is that as damage goes up, EXP cost goes up.

Infodude575 (talk)18:58, 5 April 2013

Thus far, the amount of EXP lost appears to be directly proportional to the damage that would have been taken after Defense. However, I've seen no sign of this "4.82" that should appear somewhere.

So my next question is where did we get the names "Damage Tolerance Limit" and "Efficiency Ratio" from? And if we got it from the foreign wiki, where did they get it from?

See second question: "Where did they get the names from?"

Doomsday31415 (talk)22:53, 6 April 2013

They probably did a damage test with liek....1000s of 1000s of hits to test efficiency o-o the Japanese are very mathematical and technical over all of this

S•A•R•I•A (talk)23:38, 6 April 2013

nop. Those values are in the files, too. But they probably did some testing to find out what those values associated with.

Let me put it this way: according to my calculations, the damage-to-exp ratio for rank F is about 0.09036(~11.06), and for rank E is about 0.0799(~12.52). Neither of these numbers seems to line up with 4.82 or 5.44.

As for the formula itself, I'm almost certain it's this:

  • Calculate damage from enemy attack.
  • Apply Defense and Protection (in that order). Round the result up to the nearest integer.
  • Apply Passive Defenses (like Paladin). Do NOT round this result.
  • Multiply by the ratio mentioned above. Round the result down to the nearest hundredth.

Below is all the data I've collected using PvP duels at 100% to get consistent damage output:

Rank F

33 Defense, 7 Protection, 20% damage reduction: 35 => 0.140, 36 => 0.210

It all comes down to this: are the Japanese reliable?

Infodude575 (talk)09:14, 7 April 2013

I disagree with your choice of words. The real question is "Are the Japanese infallible?" To which I answer that even they can make mistakes.

Ice Spear Freezing

Does anyone know if this will protect you from the Freezing and/or explosion effect of Ice Spear? I've been wondering that since before I completed G12, and since I just did, I mine as well ask. If I don't get a reply by tomorrow I'll end up testing it myself. *Gulp* Dueling my old Guild Leader... He Ice Spear camps. D:

Nadindel18:25, 12 September 2011

If the description is correct, you are granted temporary Advanced Heavy Stander during the duration of the skill. Provided that it is true, you will be protected from Ice Spear's freezing effect.

I don't think its Adv Heavy Stander that stops it. I mean, Doppelganger has AHS but it still freezes.

It's Mana Deflector Lv 2 or 3 that stops the freezing effect.

Infodude57519:12, 12 September 2011

Guess I'll end up testing it later, then.

Trivia section: Wings of Eclipse rank-down during G12 mainstream final

The information in that section is totally false. I watched the skill very carefully during my G12 final. It behaves oddly and very much unlike the rest of the Demigod skills, but it NEVER ranks down.

Here's exactly what happens. When the skill EXP reaches zero, the skill cancels as it normally would. However, at the exact same moment, the skill rank-up effect appears around the player and it is announced that the skill has been ranked...to the same rank it was at before. In my case (Hard difficulty, R6 Morrighan skills during the final battle), I was treated to a long series of rank-ups to Rank 6, over and over and over again, throughout the fight. It NEVER actually ranks down. It DOES lose EXP, but it resets itself back to full EXP rather than ranking down. I don't know why Nexon didn't simply make its EXP lossless like the rest of the Demigod skills, but de-ranking simply doesn't occur.

MegaMan Trigger20:17, 3 December 2010

I allowed mine to cancel multiple times. After the 4th cancelation or so the skill excp stopped coming back and it began to rank down.

Tellos20:59, 3 December 2010

Don't know what happened to you, but I never saw anything other than "You became Rank 6".

MegaMan Trigger21:44, 3 December 2010

It does derank. If you're hit low enough, you'll lose exp without having Eclipse canceled. When you lose all the EXP, you don't gain the EXP back and you will derank on the next use. Trust me, it deranks. I've done it enough to know.

κєνıи тαıĸ«)21:48, 3 December 2010

Then why are we blindly reinstating that section under the assumption that it was INTENDED to derank? Such an assumption seems foolish at best given the behavior of the other skills. There's obviously a mechanic in place to keep it from deranking but according to you two it doesn't always work. Why not simply include a warning that it MAY derank during G12 final because of a glitch?

MegaMan Trigger21:52, 3 December 2010

Whos to say its a glitch? Seems pretty intentional to me.

Tellos10:59, 6 December 2010

I'd say intentional. The barrier doesn't go away no matter how many times Nuadha hits it, therefore, making you immune.

Proof WoE deranks: [1] (fast forward to 3:22. Says it became from 7 <- 6 at 3:31).

Infodude57523:09, 15 December 2010

Every time nuadha light spears you it gets disabled (at least on Hardmode). But you can turn it back on.

Tellos19:02, 20 December 2010

Status Effects says its level 2, but this page says level 3. So, which one is it?

Infodude57523:05, 16 December 2010

Its considered level 2 in the game coding.

Tellos05:21, 17 December 2010

Explain why this page says level 3 then please.

Infodude57510:34, 17 December 2010

Skill Exp Lost

Personally I lost more than 6.5 exp in one hit, almost -24 exp prof in one hit one time. Can anyone else confirm it? --Miyuna 21:40, 28 October 2010 (PDT)

Miyuna20:40, 28 October 2010

Most of my testing was done on the KR Test server, since I added the functional details long before it was out on NA. I had r1 Eclipse of wings and got critical windmilled by ifrit (Taking some damage) and lost only 6.5 exp. It was not easy finding things with high and steady damage to test it. I have limited information on hits over 1,000. But all my testing was done at rank 1. So maybe the efficiency ratio is different at different ranks?

Tellos16:48, 29 October 2010

I agree that the ratios are incorrect. I looked closely at many Nuadha-battles and WoE took off around 15k or around that.

Infodude57523:02, 15 December 2010
