Maps of other places and moving the File:Connous Minefield Map.jpg

Cna't make marked maps if I don't have much to work with :s...

まそっぷ ! (talk)10:54, 8 September 2013

Why the heck is it called a Minefield?

Infodude575 (talk)10:58, 8 September 2013

...I don't even know...

Off-Topic, but relevant: Please upload File:Black Mask.png while anyone's loading these map images.

まそっぷ ! (talk)11:00, 8 September 2013

Okay, uploaded both. As for why the game calls it a minefield, I am unsure but consider that Shyllien does explode, it might be related to that.

Pyro - (Talk)13:02, 8 September 2013

I'd lol if SNR actually had "mines".

Aggro rules?

Edited by author.
Last edit: 18:45, 7 September 2013

I think only 6 or so can aggro a person o-o I'm gathering from the back and none of the Sasquatches aggro'd me yet.

まそっぷ ! (talk)10:24, 27 August 2013

Isn't that like, abusable? I don't think we should mention it. (Or have this thread public if at all.)

Pyro - (Talk)10:43, 27 August 2013

Err...would it? Cause honestly I found it strange and was wondering :s

まそっぷ ! (talk)10:47, 27 August 2013

I don't see why it shouldn't be public. If only 6 things can aggro you at once, then it's something built into the game and being able to gather from the large deposit is a side effect of it. If this is considered abuse, then is bringing party members to the other world through Avon considered abuse too?

Blargel (talk)11:14, 27 August 2013

Well the thing is, you can free gather if mobs are on one side aggroing you while the other side you are on, the mobs just kinda...sit there. :s since the area gives 2x training compared to the rest of the spots...yeah.

まそっぷ ! (talk)12:15, 27 August 2013

I understand that, but I can't imagine it being a big deal. I suppose that's up the wiki admins to decide though, but I just wanted to argue in favor of keeping this info.

Blargel (talk)15:02, 27 August 2013

I thought this was common knowledge. Hm.

Apparently Pyrus says it's abuseable :s

まそっぷ ! (talk)20:37, 27 August 2013

Isn't it?

Pyro - (Talk)21:56, 27 August 2013

Why does it matter that it's abuseable? It's not like this is a bug or anything.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)20:05, 28 August 2013

Exactly what and how is it abuseable?

Infodude575 (talk)20:27, 28 August 2013

Basically, there's a maximum amount of mob aggro per player. :s You can essentially free gather from the back of District 2 if you have a controlled aggro mob.

まそっぷ ! (talk)20:58, 28 August 2013

I doubt its a glitch. This isn't Hard Mode and crap where everything's supposed to hamper you. Do you know how annoying it would be for rabbits and sasquatches to chase you down, with plants everywhere trying to go om nom nom on your body when you get too close?

But if Pyrus thinks its "abuseable", just say the aggro cap and nothing else.

Infodude575 (talk)22:01, 28 August 2013

Nobody ever said it was a glitch, I said it was abusable. And why would we mention an aggro cap on the shyllien page? We don't mention it for Ceo or Rano. And yes, Shyllien was intended to be "hard mode", as you put it. I don't even think this thread should exist within this context.

Pyro - (Talk)00:12, 29 August 2013

What's in Ceo/Rano that would be gatherable o-o? I mean Ceo's got easy access sprites for elemental harvesting and flowers you can weeding hoe away and Rano's....rano. Also Hillwen seems to have the same mechanics as Shyllien...o.e....

まそっぷ ! (talk)01:53, 29 August 2013

I didn't say there was gatherable features there, my point was it's no more relevant to this page than those pages or any other field map with monsters.

Pyro - (Talk)21:51, 29 August 2013

The wiki has no rule against talking about things that are abuseable if they're not glitches. The tips section on the Healing page detail how to abuse Dark Knight Disarm and Manna Tunnels to train, Playing Instrument tips talk about blank score scrolls and provocation, much of the Proficiency is about ways to abuse the system, I don't recall anyone complaining about any of those.

Aggro limits are a very well known feature of this game, and knowing them is an important part of most forms of combat. I'm not even like 50% sure they didn't intend for this to be possible in the first place.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)03:52, 29 August 2013

Good point, lets amend the wiki policy to make all forms of abuse against the rules.
Edit: Also, it actually is violation according to my friend from JP Mabi, at least, for JP. Though, glitching into the wall is actually worse, this abuse is still bad.

Pyro - (Talk)21:51, 29 August 2013

I'm against this.

If Nexon really doesn't want something to be doable, they can change it. Our job is to make information available, not to cover things up. If it's in the game, it should be here as well.

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)06:36, 30 August 2013

There needs to be either zero tolerance for abuse or we need to list every abuse.

Pyro - (Talk)12:15, 30 August 2013

I think there's a fine line between abuse and game breaking. While this one is kinda in the middle...I'll just wait til an admin looks over this and well, makes the decision unless all of us come to a consensus o-o...

まそっぷ ! (talk)22:00, 29 August 2013

Max aggro limit and proper aggro control is an intrinsic part of the game. Everyone learns this going through the game and learns to take advantage of aggro rules. You may as well complain that getting an enemy stuck on an obstacle is abuse.

Mystickskye (talk)23:05, 31 August 2013

It's SCIENCE.

Kadalyn (talk)23:31, 31 August 2013

An enemy stuck on an obstacle IS an abuse.

Pyro - (Talk)00:11, 1 September 2013

Says who? You? Like that's a good determination of whether something is or isn't abuse. In many environments it can even happen without the player intending to. Unless you actually go and get word from Nexon that this is in fact abuse you're going to find it difficult to argue to anyone that it is in fact abuse. Next thing we know you're gonna say that fleeing from an enemy is abuse.

Mystickskye (talk)01:13, 1 September 2013

What kind of logic is that? Of course getting an enemy intentionally stuck behind an obstacle (like shearing a sheep that cannot move, or making an enemy unhittable and not able to hit you back) is an abuse. The right of proof is not on me here. And of course running away from an enemy isn't an abuse.

Pyro - (Talk)10:56, 1 September 2013

Not it's not. Its AI can't do much in the situtation someone put it in. I mean if you mean stuck in walls and stuff...yeah that's abuse. but stuck around an obstacle, that's a different story...

まそっぷ ! (talk)11:15, 1 September 2013

Not Abuse (In my opinion):

  • Getting a monster stuck behind a dungeon wall as you run away.

Abuse:

  • Getting a monster or NPC animal intentionally stuck so you could have you way with that monster without the AI's consent.
  • Stuck IN walls.
  • Making an enemy invulnerable (which may or may not include making them not able to hit you or vice versa.
Pyro - (Talk)11:25, 1 September 2013

Has anyone actually gotten banned for those "abuse" methods...?

Infodude575 (talk)11:30, 1 September 2013

My friend has gotten banned for trapping sheep in Port Qilla behind an upgrade anvil. The other two, nobody I know, but it's obvious those are glitches.

Pyro - (Talk)11:34, 1 September 2013

It's been stated at least once by Sabina (her, iirc) that no one was banned for glitching sheeps.

That is what they claimed the reason for banning was in the ticket. And this girl like, doesn't even consider modding.

Pyro - (Talk)15:56, 1 September 2013

It's about as abusive as campfires and barrier spikes are.

Aknal (talk)01:05, 1 September 2013

I agree with Aknal. The environment you're in is just as much a part of a good player's strategy. Just look at MacGyver~

I'm not sure about sticking, but I can guarantee that if Nexon had a bug tracker and someone posted the aggro rules they would mark it as Won'tFix. It's just normal, every game has that. Most free games have crappy AI that gets stuck on the environment, too.

Anyway, I would only call it abusable in the sense of the word when I use it for saying I abuse English. It's not doing anything wrong, but it's certainly making rampant use of abnormal things.

I call it science because it's something that's viably possible if Erinn were a natural world, and if it were to happen, one could discover it through simple scientific deduction. These are the sort of things that have advanced humanity into the master race of the Earth, past dinosaurs and dragons and whatever else we decimated to get here.

Kadalyn (talk)11:59, 1 September 2013

If it were the same for every monster, imight belive it's a problem, but it only works on those with dumber AIs there are some smarter ones(like laghodessas) that will immediately curve their path around the obstacles.

Also, I'm pretty sure devcat intended for this to be possible. Why else would there be so many rocks, trees, and other obstacles that are such a pain to get arround scattered throughout fields and shadow missions?

Sozen Cratos Focker (talk)09:00, 3 September 2013

This argument is getting stupid. How come the Unwatch button doesn't work?

Blargel (talk)01:49, 1 September 2013

I've hit Unwatch but I still get new messages regarding this thread :/

Blargel (talk)02:01, 1 September 2013

Once you post in a topic, you will always get the new messages thing. Watchlist is separate from liquidthreads.

Oh. There's an unwatchable button on the thread. Did not notice that. No idea then.

Well after messing around with aggro and doing some tests (thank god for elves) if the existing aggro does not manage to kill the player aggroed, and there are other mobs nearby, they will all aggro that particular player at once, resulting in a mass area of "!!" and what not.
