Invincibility Frames?

I heard Lightning Rod has ^ when launching it, similar to Blaze?

Infodude575 (talk)10:17, 24 May 2015

Whoever told you that is a liar. Tested with fireballs in Shyllien and if I release a lightning rod just before impact, I still get hurt. Incidentally, monster fireballs still take 5 seconds to explode after launching, so they didn't get the effects of the magic renovation like they did with the melee renovation.

Blargel (talk)03:58, 25 May 2015

Or rank Novice too stronk.

Incompetent Bunny Mikaya ' ^ ' (talk)07:34, 25 May 2015

My bad. Someone else had said it and before actually testing it fully myself, had assume it upon the fact that it has in fact stopped monsters from attacking me occasionally upon its firing, very similar to magnum.

Surrept (talk)20:41, 25 May 2015

Mana usage modifiers.

So my lightning rod uses 52 mp at r1. But I can't seem to figure out why. It doesn't matter whether I use my hermit staff or my celtic druid with -30% mp consumption. I have r1 lightning mastery (Which is supposed to be -20%, but it doesn't affect it either) and approximately 1000 int (which lowers the mp consumption of most other int+ spells.)

It seems perfectly reasonable to me that it wouldn't be affected by these, but why would it drop to 52 mp instead of 60? What's shaving off the 8 mp?

It's not night-time effects or anything because the mp is used more or less all at once, not giving enough time for those to take effect.

Marith (talk)02:02, 24 May 2015

For some reason I'm using 72 instead of 55 at Rank 4... I only have 1.1k Int and Rank 1 Lightning Mastery.

Infodude575 (talk)10:22, 24 May 2015

A friend used it at r4 for 49 mp. Another for 46 at rF. I can't figure it out. You should be using less mp than I would, but you're not.

Marith (talk)16:44, 24 May 2015

A friendly reminder to make sure you're wearing nothing else, in case of enchants/reforges/etc.

And if that's not the case, looks like we have another mystery on our hands.

Sakura502 (talk)17:27, 24 May 2015

I'm going to guess that lag plays a role in mp usage since it drains it away super fast instead of just taking it all at once. (Why does it do that anyway? That's stupid.)

Blargel (talk)17:39, 24 May 2015

So today I'm only using 49~50 mp for every cast. I also don't even need to have 60 mp to cast lightning rod at r1, which is completely out of character for magic.

I also highly doubt it's lag that makes me use significantly less (but not as significant as other spells) mana. My response time from the game is pretty on point.

UGHHHHH, so with my druid, it uses 50, with my S6 hermit, it uses 50, with my clean trinity, 52. Maybe it's a magic attack thing? But those all have way different magic attack values.

So I only need 46 mp to cast lightning rod, but it uses a bit more. Does anyone else have differing mana charge threshholds at r1?

Marith (talk)17:49, 24 May 2015

Lag would make you use more, not less, indicating that masteries and INT factor into the cost. Latency can vary greatly across even a short amount of time. However, with a higher latency, other users may find they use significantly more than they should since SOMEONE decided it would be cool to drain across time instead of simply subtracting fixed numbers.

Shroom Fonzerelli (talk)21:28, 24 May 2015

I seem to use a varying amount of mp per lightning rod. Here's a few trials:

  • 51
  • 49
  • 50
  • 51
  • 51
  • 50
  • 51
  • 51
  • 52

So I think small variations in lag cause different results. In general, it costs about 51 mp per lightning rod. My intelligence during testing was 1288, and I have rank 1 lightning mastery. What's weird is that with the -20% cost from mastery, it should cost 48 mp. I believe that the tiny amount of lag that is inherent in any online game, no matter how lagless you are, causes the extra 1~4 mp cost.

EDIT: Oh, and to answer your question about minimum mp cost. I also appear to require 46 mp. I think I actually managed to fire it just before my mp actually hit 46, so maybe it requires something like 45.6 mp to use.

Blargel (talk)03:30, 25 May 2015

Part of what bugs me is that my mp usage has not changed since I ranked up lightning mastery. And it isn't affected by the universal -30% cost from my staff, but is still using significantly less than what we have listed.

Snap Cast?

So... Snap Castable or no? I'm guessing no. It's not on Snap Cast's page so that's why I'm asking.

Skeithphase1 (talk)08:42, 22 May 2015

This skill is not Snap Castable.

Sora54329 (talk)09:03, 22 May 2015

Lightning Rod technically doesn't have a load time, so no.

Likewise Mana Recovery (not calling it Inspiration) is not Snap Cast-able, and neither are Spellwalk-able.

After doing all of the quest requirements and talking to stewart both for inspiration and lightning rod.

They are both now missing from my skill window and relogging has not fixed it. Can somebody explain what I'm doing wrong???

Mikuruchan32 (talk)08:55, 22 May 2015

So you had the skills prior to the problem and they are only NOW missing from your skill window?

Sora54329 (talk)09:06, 22 May 2015

It likely has to do with my client not updating 100%. I need to reinstall before I make these.

Objectives
Rewards
  • 50,000 Experience Points
  • 10,000 Gold
  • Learn Lightning Rod
Additional Information
  • The Saga: Iria's Episode 3's Black Dragon counts for the quest.
  • Only Thunder's initial bolt contributes to the quest.
  • If you gave up the quest, you can receive it again by re-logging or changing channels.

Interestingly the quest has a "Give Up" button, but I'm not trying it.

Also someone told me that Iria Dragon does count? I'm not so sure because they don't for Meteor. http://i.imgur.com/YSZmOUL.jpg It's still odd because Meteor didn't pre-Renovation. Now that actually begs the question if it changed for Meteor.

Infodude575 (talk)10:05, 20 May 2015

I'll ask my brother to look into that unless someone else confirms. he's sleeping atm though and I'm not putting the effort to rerank meteor to check this nonsense (nonsense being meteor).

... Complete BS.

Infodude575 (talk)09:13, 21 May 2015

Giving up the quest just send you a new one later...but not like that matters lol.
