Talk:Herb List

From Mabinogi World Wiki

Should "appearance" of the herb be what the herb looks like when its on the floor? Because I got a clover from a clover gnu and its a picture of a green giftbox thingy Kat419

Appearance refers to the colour of the patch in the dungeon. i.e. Bloody herbs are picked from red herb patches. Clovers can't be picked from patches so they don't have an appearance code. Mind you, this is not exessively intuitive... --Skynet 13:29, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

I added the "picking rank" column to show the first rank you can pick the plants at, but I'm not sure about most of them, I'll add the rest when I'm sure if nobody else does before then. --Aljo

Edit: Ok, gold herbs are indeed novice rank. Are you sure about it being easier with more than one person or does it just seem that way? --Sinnoaria

easier. sort of like how having a pet hit a tree with you makes the berries drop faster. Though I don't know if the rate itself is more, or if it's simply because more attempts are made. I'll test it out with berries and trees and report back. -- Ladywinter 22:08, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

I do not see any point in putting these picking ranks. Almost all can possibly be picked at Novice Rank, but that info is absolutely pointless since the chance to pick is so low. What would actually be helpful would be the % chance to pick at each rank or at which rank picking becomes bearable... --Js16 05:15, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

If we knew the %, we probably would be smart enough to put that. --Kevin (•Talk•) 05:21, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
You know what, I'm going to try sifting through the .pack files and seeing if I can find any %'s.--Js16 21:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

FOUND THEM! Let me run through them though, get them organized... (tiny font hurts eyes O_O)

Where? --Kevin (•Talk•) 05:30, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Found them in the file collectionform.xml... they aren't straight up percentages either, though it's not too hard to figure out. They even had herb animal drop rates :D Problem is that it is a lot of info to put down in the discussion section, maybe too much. I made a pretty fancy .xml that breaks down the file into understandable pieces but no clue how to distribute it out to the masses. Any ideas?
Also, the file doesn't seem to have the bonuses that Herbalism the skill gives (the act of herbalism is actually called "Collecting"... who knew?) but I think I can find that on another file... wish me luck.
Edit: Ok, I don't think I'm going to find it in a file but I might be able to leach it from the game.... wish me more luck.--Js16 08:40, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
lol! excellent! I wish you more luck! -- Ladywinter 18:00, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, heres a link to the file I made. Feel free to look it over. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=55fb841004fdf60f0de4fc1039a016743dc5aa91e6773c095621d66e282a0ee8
To be honest I'm not on a computer that can read excel, but if it's a ridiculous amount of data with a ridiculous amount of formatting...I say DeadEiry it. Leave a note on my user page if you want help with getting started on that -- Ladywinter 18:57, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I added about half of the proper picking ranks onto the herb lists to show which rank increases the chances greatly to pick it. Thanks to Lilaznkevin for incorporating it into the table. --Kaillera 20:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

I Added links to all the dungeons

I added links to all the dungeons so it is more convenient to find exactly which dungeon it is. Especially for new people this is helpful. I hope i got them all correctly it is a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG LIST <:

Mandrake Herbalism Level

You can pick Mandrakes at Novice rank, and I'm not certain if another Novice picking helps. (I always travel with a friend who knows Herbalism-Novice). It just takes forever, but not as long as Golden Herbs with two people. I got mine in Cair (Beginner or Basic, I don't recall).

Edit: White Herbs are also picked at Novice level. I got them off an Herb Pig. --ElvenMist

Herb pigs don't count, they don't require any skill whatsoever.--Jacobpaige 18:38, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Actually, you can pick nearly every herb at Rank Novice Herbalism (since I haven't tested White Herbs/Peaca yet). It just takes longer for more difficult Herbs, because the success rate is low. The success rate is raised by your Production Mastery rank, your Herbalism rank, and possibly if other people are picking with you (it's not just for Golden Herbs). Mathonwy 23:26, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Intelligence also seems to have an effect on success rates.--Jacobpaige 00:11, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
On that I disagree. Intelligence isn't the factor here. If it is, it's extremely low. I've observed that Luck actually helps more with the chances. For instance, I normally go dungeon diving with the Library Ghost title for the MP bonus and takes away luck, it takes me about 10 attempts to pick a full patch of Sunlight Herbs. However if I have the Lucky Guy title on, I get it in 5-6 tries for the same type of patch. The Library Ghost title gives +10 Int, and -10 Luck. The Lucky Guy gives +20 Luck. I have Rank B Herbalism and Rank 8 Production Mastery, so my success rate is usually pretty high. It looks to me that that 30 Luck difference is worth about 3 or 4 successes. This actually might be a good strategy for training Herbalism early on, for those conditionals that state "Attempt to pick". I've been attempting to pick Sunlight Herbs for months to finish off the 500 Attempts conditional and only now am I within 100 of the end. So in other words, the formula appears to be +10 Luck = +1 Herb Success for me. --redemption2 17:07, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Because of Production Mastery, you have a very low chance of picking any herb no matter what your rank of Herbalism is. My theory is that the Herbalism skill gives you an additional bonus to the success rate of picking herbs based on the skill's rank. When it tells you that picking a certain kind of herb is enabled it means you now get a bonus to success from Herbalism towards picking that kind of herb in addition to what you're getting from Production Mastery. When it says you can identify that type of herb, the success rate goes up dramatically. --Naiya 15:51, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

I know this is incredibly late, but not necesarily where you can identify it to pick it better. Golden herb chance increase greatly at D. At rank 3 it should be already possible to pick it 80% of the time anyway. --Kaillera 21:02, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Clover

Just putting this here since it's not yet:
The Four-Leaf Clover is more rare than getting golden herbs.
In a time span of 100 minutes, I picked 3 Clovers. --Zephyre 05:24, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

An initial estimate on the forums gave odds of about 50:7000 at picking Clovers. So far I've found 2 in around 300 picks which is consisten (0.6% odds). It also seems unafected by rank, as with all other pickable herbs. Skynet 11:11, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
So far I estimate the odds of a clover dropping being twice as likely on Wednesdays (nature collection bonus). --Skynet 04:11, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

White herbs

In Ciar int for 1? Really? --Melodious 04:06, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Someone change the herbalism tables.215:53, 12 May 2011

"more than one person attempting"

Better chances at picking Golden and Poison herbs at Novice Herbalism rank when more than one person is attempting it.

Anyone have proof?

Herb Gathering Exp

Okay, I just tested and went gathering herbs on my Homestead. Base herbs on my homestead gave me 50exp per success on a normal gather (no lucky bonus). Mana Herbs on my homestead gave me 400 exp. Inside dungeons, the exp for these herbs is doubled (100 for base herbs, normally/800 for mana herbs).

I think this means that any herbs that you gather on a homestead give 50% of the EXP you would get compared to if you were picking them in a dungeon, or something.

Someone change the herbalism tables.

Whoever has permission to edit the herbalism table,it should be changed to reflect the new, mostly tested picking and identification ranks.

Pyroblade17:59, 11 April 2011

anyone can change as long as it is correct and useful for wiki.
