Good Deeds
A good deed is helping someone who is poor. I should go to Emain Macha and find out who is a poor person.
(Part of Generation 2)

How to Get It

Received after talking to Craig during the Lugh, the Knight of Light quest.

  • Good deeds? It's just doing your part-time job really well, and doing it on time, so no one gets worried when the deadline comes. Poor people? Shheshh. Why help out people that can help themselves with their two hands and two feet. Tell them I need help here.
Bebhinn

  • Poor people? Hmmm, since I work at the Bank, I don't think I have encountered poor people here.
Every once in a while, I'd feel sorry for those that weren't able to get their items from their account, but... that doesn't mean I can break rules for them.
If they take care of their finances from the beginning, then they wouldn't have to go through that, right? Haha.

  • Help out the poor? Well, that might be a good thing, but why are they poor in the first place?
Our town is full of diligent, hardworking people, so I haven't seen anyone poor in here, so I don't know.
Dilys

  • Hmmm. I don't think we have anyone in this town that is so poor that the person may need an outside help.

  • Helping out the poor can be tricky, if you don't think long and hard about how to help the ones in need.
There's a saying that for the sake of the kid, do not catch the fish for them, but teach them how to fish themselves.
Think about the reason why that saying was created in the first place.

  • In the name of Lymilark, if you live the life the way she taught you, by loving others while forgiving their mistakes, that you'll live the life of goodness, without having to actually do good deeds.
I believe true good deeds aren't isolated incidents, but a lifestyle that you always follow through, not worrying about it one bit.

  • Are you saying helping out the poor is a good deed?
Well, it isn't necessarily wrong. But please think about this. Don't you think being "Poor" is already a term of segregation?
Just because one person feels the gap in monetary possessions, the person doesn't have to feel like a failure...
I mean, if you really want to help them out, instead of plotting ways to help them financially, you'll have to help them grow out of the poor man's mentality.
They shouldn't feel like they're poor just because they don't have as much money as others.

  • Even if it's a good deed, it's hard to pinpoint what exactly a good deed is. How about asking others about it first?
If the first person that recommended you to do it has something to offer, then I suggest you take care of that first.
You wish to help out the poor? That's not bad either, although that'll be hard to do here in this town.
Ranald
Ranald.png
Tir Chonaill 1
  • You can't only consider the good deeds that others recommend as the only good deeds available.
It's important that you do your job when others ask you to do it, but I believe it's just as important for you to think good deeds you can do on your own...
Trefor

  • Tir Chonaill is a town where everyone helps one another become self-sufficient, so I never really thought of anyone here that's poor or anything. Hahaha.

  • Helping out the poor is a good deed? Ah, come to think of it, the book i showed you said so, right?
Yes, then as your travel diary says, would you head over to Emain Macha? The story in that book takes place in Emain Macha, too.
I have a feeling places like that have the rich that are richer, and also the poor being poorer than ever.

  • Hmmm... That makes sense, but... just because they ar poor, that doesn't mean you should blindly help them out...
Think about it, a poor person walks into my house, and eats without every paying. If you see that, can you say you should do a good deed on them?

  • I don't know. A poor person...? There is a beggar who is always sitting near the Town Square. I don't know what happened, but I hope he gets to eat everyday...
Perhaps he's not much different from Nele...
Ailionoa
Ailionoa.png
Emain Macha 2
  • Helping a poor person... I'm not really sure. Why don't you try giving some money to the beggar at the Town Square?
But I don't know if handing out free money to someone who still has all his limbs is a wise idea. Shouldn't he have to earn it?
Aodhan
Aodhan.png
Emain Macha 2
  • I think helping someone is a great idea... but I think poverty is something that needs to solved fundamentally first.
Poverty is caused by a person's skill or position, even one's environment and education.
Giving money to a person could be a temporary solution but if it doesn't help the person permanently get out of poverty, I don't think it makes a significant difference.

...First you quit your Paladin training and now you're going in a completely new direction?
If you make the decision on you own to quit then figure this one out by yourself too.

  • You're helping a poor person? That's very kind of you, [NAME]...! I heard people who are really poor can't even eat properly or clothe themselves properly...
Even if one person can eat and clothe themselves because of you that's making a difference.

  • A poor person? Like that beggar over there?
He's always there begging but honestly, I wish he would be quiet for once. I could hear him begging from all the way over here and it's getting pretty annoying.

  • You're going to help the poor? Like homeless feeding or something?
So you're going to hand out some food or give them some money? But who exactly are you helping out?
Emain Macha is quite a wealthy city. I don't know if there are any poor people...
Galvin

Give food to the hungry, money to the poor, and a friend to those who are lonely... What's so hard about it?
Gordon

  • The poor? If you want to help a poor person give them some kind of job.
They say if you want to help a child don't give them a fish but teach them how to fish.
Those beggars who have able bodies but yet live off of other people's hard earned money deserve to starve!

  • You're asking me about how to help the poor?
Hmm... There's probably a variety of ways to do that. You can volunteer at the church, or make donations on your own...
But, I think you need to think a little more about helping people up front.
It's not healthy for the person who is being helped to get overly dependent on the one that is helping.
If you really help someone, you should anonymously support them from a distance.
Jocelin

  • You made a good observation, [NAME]. Even in a seemingly wealthy city like Emain Macha there are still many poor people living amongst us.
I know that the church has some programs ot help people like that... You should go find out from there.

  • You're going to help the poor?
Ha. Are you a millionaire or something? You can't even take care of yourself and you're telling me you're going to help others...
If you have that kind of money why don't you buy a new pair of clothes? When you come here, at least dress up a little bit.

  • You're going to help the poor? Haha, that's great news... I'm standing right in front of you..
    .....
Haha...I'm just kidding.. I enjoy living like this. Others might think otherwise and have pity on me... but I'm happy with it so it doesn't really matter. Haha...
If you really want to help someone what about that beggar sitting over there...?
Sometimes when I'm playing music he goes striaght to sleep snoring and all. I guess my music is like a sweet lullaby, what agreat audience... Haha...

  • Hmm...that's quite noble of you. That's right, when you're helping someone you probably want to give the person what they need most...
Sharing your wealth with those who are poor, is something that is encouraged by Lymilark as well.
The Lord says the heavier your pockets, the heavier your sins will be as well, so if you share what's in your pocket with others your sins will lessen as well.
Don't forget that and always make a habit of sharing your wealth with hose who are less fortunate.

  • Are you concerned about doing a good deed, [NAME]? The good deeds you've been thinking of are really, good deeds, but...
I feel that a more admirable job for you may be to donate a small portion to our fund towards building a Church here in this blessed land of Bangor.
...Are you willing to donate a bit?

  • Everyone feels the need to do a good deed. Also, to do so, everyone plans out this massive plan to perform good deeds regularly. The really important aspect of this, however... is that you need to actually follow through with the plan...
...If not, your plans for good deeds are nothing but a foolish act that never went through...
First, I suggest you head over to Emain Macha and think about it. Go to a place where there's a lot of people, and your good qualities will be revealed that much faster.
