  • You need the right tools to gather things. You need a Sickle to harvest wheat. You need a Gathering Knife to shear wool. You need an Axe to gather firewood.
In the end, nothing is free. You have to work for it.

  • Sometimes, I have to venture outside town to pick wild plants and fruit. To be honest, it's quite scary to go alone.
The most important thing about the Gathering skill is the tool that you use. You can't gather anything with your bare hands. Without a tool, you'll only be able to pick up branches, berries, and nails.
You need a Gathering Axe for firewood, a Gathering Knife for wool, and a Sickle for barley or wheat. Make sense?
Deian
Deian.png
Tir Chonaill 1
  • Here's the rundown. Think about what you want to gather first, then, find out where you can get it. You'll need the right tool. More importantly, you need time, hard work, and money.
But you won't get paid much. You want to make any easy living by picking up stuff from the ground, right? But trust me, it's not that easy. I've tried.

  • It isn't as hard as you think. Just gather wood, get water, trim the sheep... If you do it one step at a time, you'll be done before you know it.

  • Gathering... I don't have much to tell you, but do remember this.
Gathering up items have nothing to do with your special ability to extract items from any source. We are just relying on Mother Nature to share what she is giving us...
Sometimes you may not get what you want, but you need to be grateful for what she has allowed you to have, rather than grumble about your poor luck and skill.
Endelyon

Tir Chonaill 1
  • Do you know about the Gathering skill? Hahaha, don't be nervous. Anyone can do it. It's easy, as long as you have the right tools for it.
It's a skill to collect wood or wool from Mother Nature with the proper tools. I think it's a good idea to talk to Caitin about gathering, unless you've already met her and talked about it.
Ferghus
Ferghus.png
Tir Chonaill 1
  • The most critical aspect of successful gathering is tools, tools and tools. Let's say there's a big forest full of giant trees. You can't do anything without an axe.
What if there was a big block of sheep with top quality wool? Without scissors or a knife, you can't even get a string of wool from them.
You got the point? Then why don't you go through my stock and pick a tool?
Don't you want it? Then, never mind. haha.

  • Gathering is a very important skill. Even more for those who study magic.
You don't really need to learn it separately. Anyone with the right tools can immediately use the skill. You can often get the necessary materials for magic from nature.

  • A tool is the most important thing for successful gathering. But the problem is, good tools are way too expensive.
So let's see. Hmm. Do you have a Gathering Knife? If you don't, go to Ferghus's Blacksmith's Shop. He sells them. They're cheap, and quite handy.
Piaras

  • If you want to gather something yourself, I think you need to get tools at the Blacksmith's Shop or the General Shop.
But I often see people pounding on the village property. I guess they would have no trouble cutting down the trees with their bare hands.
The sheep may ask you to use tools for their sake, though...
... A Gathering Knife can be bought at a very affordable price at Ferghus' Blacksmith's Shop. I'd recommend you go there if you do not have one.
Ranald

Tir Chonaill 1
  • Paying too much attention to gathering is against the path of a warrior. But we do need skills to help us survive on barren fields. Being familiar with the Gathering skill would be useful, I guess.
At least, an Axe or axe-type weapon would help you gather firewood, while also using it as a devastating weapon.
Speaking of firewood, you could ask Tracy at the Ulaid Logging Camp in Dugald Aisle for something like this.
    There's no doubt that he's a sleazebag, but he's still a lumberjack.
Trefor
Trefor.png
Tir Chonaill 1
  • I understand that you are interested in the Gathering skill, but I'm a little insulted that you'are asking me, the quintessential warrior.
The Gathering skill is not something you learn, as everyone already knows how to do it.
What matters is that you have the appropriate tools. You can buy a Gathering Knife from Ferghus at the Blacksmith's Shop or from Deian.

    ...Wait, what was it...?

  • For members of the academic societies, 'gathering' is when you're on the lookout for the next topic you're going to research, or collecting materials for some sort of experiment.
When it comes to collecting research materials, even those who might at other times be generously described as 'scaredy-cats' seem to forget their fear and layers of anxiety and start gathering like they're driven by some unholy force.
Anyway, it probably comes as no surprise to you that members of the Society of Astronomy tend to be, on the whole, a rather curious bunch. I just wish they took less of an interest in dangerous materials, or at least were better about taking precautions so they wouldn't get hurt.

You can gather tree branches, berries and even nails with your bare hands but in order to do some more serious collecting, you'll need to have a variety of tools. For example, in order to gather firewood, you'll need an axe, and to gather sheep's wool, you'll need a gathering knife. We Giants usually get our food through gathering. Physis may seem like a barren land, but it's surprisingly fertile.
