Category talk:In-game Books

From Mabinogi World Wiki

Shouldn't there be a section on each page that tells where to get the book and the skills gained or effects of reading it(or lack thereof)?

Confusingly, item names of books are inconsistent with the titles on inside title pages. But listing books here by the titles inside the books, instead of their item names, serves only people who have already read them. This is a mistake.

To illustrate why this is unhelpful: Suppose the Healing wiki page says you learn the skill from the book "Healing: The Fundamentals", but Lassar and Stewart only sell items named "Healing: Basics of Magic". 'Where is the Fundamentals book I need?', the user wonders. This is why I did not enter the cooking rank E book as "- Chef's Easy Cooking Series - Boiling", but by its item name of "Master Chef's Cooking Guide: Simmering"; if a user is trying to find out where they can buy the "Simmering" book, they're not going to think to look under "Boiling"!

Our policy here should be to go with the titles listed before you buy the book, to better serve users who have not yet bought them. --Lionheart

  • Added the following books in reference to meditation: "For Effective Meditation," Meditation in the Nubes," & "The Mystery of the Karu Forest." All books referenced in the Meditation articles --Sakkano 21:10, 28 June 2008 (PST)
These books aren't out yet so I'm removing them. Fifty 21:11, 28 June 2008 (PDT)

Formatting

I personally find a lot of the library articles ugly looking. I formatted Rich Man Ivan's Story to have fix width and I find it a lot better. Anyone agree? Fifty 22:16, 8 June 2008 (PDT)

It's been months since I wrote the previous comment but I want to ask for opinions again. Nexon went over pretty much every book and changed a lot of stuff so this is a good time to decide on a standard format for books. I still like the fixed width, but what do other people think? 3 choices: 1, 2, or 3 Thanks -Fifty 21:18, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Book Effects

The Dunbarton Environs, Understanding of Elementals, The Tir Chonaill Environs are some books that raise Int. But are they permanent improvements or do they disappear after a rebirth? Just wondering xP --Akumo 00:37, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

NeedDesc and in-game book template description conflict

For a lot of the book pages, even though there's a description of the book given at the top of the page, the book will show up on the NeedDesc page since the description portion of the in-game book template is left blank (See A Campfire Memory).

Should the descriptions be transferred to the in-game book template, included in both (redundant in my opinion) or just be left as is?
