In nature, there are very few beings that are capable of handling fire.
One might even go as far to say that civilization had begun with flame,
and that the histories of various ethnic groups is based on the development and history of the flame.
We use flame for cooking our foods,
and it is the same flame that saves us from cold and darkness.
And most importantly, it is because of the flame that we are able to be active at night which allows us to get a lot more done within a given day.
In our everyday lives, we share our food with others through camp sharing
and it is in such settings that we learn to share ourselves spiritually
with other people.
Such activities are the very essence of what fuels the energy of our lives
and is the process in which we come to accept that we are each
a part of this world.
On the other hand, flame has always been seen to have mystical and powerful forces.
That is probably because flames are at the very source of creation,
while at the same time, at the crux of utter destruction.
We are fortunate enough to be around flames quite frequently through campfires and such.
It is one of the most seemingly basic, yet mythological
practices as well.
The most obvious example of this is the counter-enchant.
The counter-enchant is the magical process of taking the forces of the enchantment that is binding an object
and moving it back into a scroll
and it is a very important tool that is frequently used in campfires.
In particular, in instances where using a campfire skill that is restricted to particularly ranked individuals, fire
can be the very element which leads to successfully doing a counter-enchant.
Finally, remember that the flame is with us,
even in the moment of our death.
When a person dies, a flame goes out.
And a body that's lost its flame
loses its light
as well as warmth
and in the end, remain as nothing more than dirt in the earth.
The flame is the heart,
because it is the heart that is at the center of our lifeline,
and the moment our heart goes out,
the flame goes out with it.
