  • (during First Memoir) Books are meant for recording ideas and information, right? Does that mean it's possible that my memories have been recorded somewhere? That would be wonderful...
  • (during Second Memoir) I was just thinking, (Character Name), what if we made our Memoir into a book and sold it? I think it would be a real page-turner!
We could title it...umm...'Blaanid and (Character Name)'s Excellent Adventure.' It'll be flying off shelves before you know it!
Huh? What do you mean 'Excellent is a matter of perspective'? H-hey, don't pretend like you didn't have fun! I saw you smiling!

  • Everyone is so busy with work, that it's almost impossible to sit down and just read. The only books you can buy around here are probably the magic books that Lassar sells at the School.
Some villagers give books as gifts to travelers passing through this village. Could be tempting if you're a bookworm.

  • Oh, you like reading? I'm not sure that will really help you with your life. I'll bet most people in town would say the same thing. Why else aren't there any bookstores in town?
I don't really understand what people get out of reading. Books are full of rubbish or fairy tales, you know. Why do you like reading books?

  • Yes, I am also frustrated that there are no bookstores in this town... When I need to books I always have to ask someone who is leaving town to purchase them for me.

  • Unfortunately, Tir Chonaill does not have a bookstore. In fact, when it comes to passing down the history and heritage of our town, we believe that books are a supplementary form of record-keeping.
If are determined to buy a book, go see Malcolm. I'm sure there are some available at the General Shop. Piaras at the Inn should have a couple, too... In fact, all the town residents probably own a book or two, so talk to them. I hope you gain much wisdom from the time you spend reading books.

  • Are you looking for a bookstore? Unfortunately, there are no bookstores in this town. Books are expensive and take time to read, so they are only for people with spare time and money.
People here are simply too busy trying to make ends meet. The only books you can find in this town are probably some books on spells, I guess. Sometimes, Ferghus or Ranald give books as presents but it's a stretch to call them real books.
Ferghus

  • You must be interested in books. Sorry to say this, but... we don't have a bookstore in this town. If you want to buy books, go to Lassar. I think she sells some books.
But don't expect too much. She probably sells expensive spellbooks. What else could she have?

  • Someone like you looking for books? Now, that's unexpected.
Hahaha! I'm just kidding. Don't make that kind of face at me. There is no bookstore in this town. Not too many people here like reading.
How do I know? Actually, I sell magic books. And few people ever bought any.

  • Ah, are you looking for books? I once brought in a lot of books, but nobody bought them and I lost a lot of money. Since then, I haven't been stocking books.

If you are looking for a book, please go to the General Shop. Malcolm may have some books on the Composing skill, at least. This town has few books, if any. Not even a book on Mabinogi, which I know is pretty common in other cities.
I guess everybody is busy making a living. That's why nobody has time to read books.

  • A bookstore? You won't find one in this town. If you really want to buy some books, it would be better for tiy[sic] to go to another town.
A friend of mine who's also a combat instructor told me that Dunbarton has a bookstore.
Hmm... reading books is certainly a good thing, but spending too much time on it won't help you get your job done. I suggest you read in moderation.
If you spend too much time on books, you can end up a scrawny nerd like that Malcolm guy.

  • You need a book? Malcolm at the General Shop is an avid reader with a collection of books at his shop. It looks like he's selling some of them, too.
Why don't you go there and talk to him about it? He's not selling too many books and chances are, you might have read them all...
Just so you know, Malcolm absolutely HATES lending his stuff. If you want one of his books, you'll probably have to pay for it.

  • Oh! That's where Aeira works. I visited the bookstore when I first came to Dunbarton and ended up talking with her for hours. I thought she'd be shy at first, but when I mentioned an article in the newspaper, her eyes lit up and she couldn't stop talking about her take on things.
And then she went on about her favorite new books that had just come out. Definitely not what I expected, but I was impressed. With that amount of passion, she should really consider joining one of Aliech's academic societies.
But...even if she wanted to, I don't think Walter would approve...
  • Do you like books? I love reading! In fact, 'love' may be an understatement.
I used to be rather sickly when I was a young child. I wasn't even always able to come out to say hello to visitors. Some days, I was completely bed-bound. It was as boring as it sounds, and without much else I could do, I began picking up anything I could find in the house to read.
That love of reading never subsided, and now...here I am, a member of a proper academic society. Though, I might not have been interested enough to keep going if the Stardust incidents hadn't started happening. It's exciting to be right there when there's something new to research.

  • If you're looking for reference books on adventurers, Alexina is probably the one you should talk to. May be a bit difficult to call it a book store, per se, but anyways...

  • I used to be a slow reader, but now I can read much faster than most people.
Still, sometimes I'll feel the fatigue in my eyes if I've been reading really intently for a while.
Ugh, I hope my eyesight doesn't get worse. Maybe I need some glasses...
  • After working with complicated ledgers for as long as I have, all it takes is a glance for me to take in a dense page of text.
  • I'm not really much of a reader, but I tend to favor books with lots of illustrations.

  • No, there's no bookstore here, but I do get some book delivered over here by the owl. Too bad the shipping actually can cost more than the actual book itself but there's no other way for me to get any books around here so...

  • The navigation journal which I started when I'd first started navigating in the ocean has grown to a huge book now.
I know some people might laugh and think, what are you doing writing a navigation journal when all you do is just rid [sic] around on your boat and catch fish, but I personally think it's always important to keep records of everything.
Later, when it's time, I want to sift through all the records and maybe publish a book with it... It's just a thought... Anyway, if that were to happen, CharacterName, you'd be able to buy my book from a book store.
As for the title of the book, I was thinking "Beauty and the Sea" or something...

  • The words in your heart are more valuable than any of the world's books or records.
Knowledge is a mere remnant of the past, but true wisdom can help us use that knowledge to build a happier future.

  • We don't record ancient teachings in books. It's not because we're unable to write, or because we don't appreciate writing.
Instead of writing, our ancestors have left important clues in the shape of marks whose meaning can be apprehended only by a few chosen ones.
Look around. All the giant continental marks and mysterious ancient sites are the important clues.

  • All you need to know about writing is being able to write your own name. Magic disrupts your soul and is not something you need to learn.
The one thing I know I can trust in this world is my strength and spirit that can easily shake the Nubes Mountains and more.
